Valerie Piko: Small Business Coordinator
Valerie joined the RED staff in 2017 and is responsible for growing and maintaining the organization’s regional retention and expansion program. She works to build relationships with small businesses and entrepreneurs in Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel Counties, while partnering with business organizations and local government. Her goals are to retain and locate small businesses in the Northern Panhandle, mitigate obstacles that deter small business growth, and provide assistance to small business needs.
Prior to joining RED, Valerie gained experience in non-profit fundraising and development as well as college recruitment. Thanks to these experiences, she understands the importance of creative thinking, relationship building, and customer service, key ingredients to working with our small business partners throughout the region.
A native of Pittsburgh, Valerie moved to the Friendly City to pursue studies at Wheeling Jesuit University. She is a double graduate of the University, having received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2009 and her Master of Science in Business Administration in 2011.
Valerie resides in Wheeling along with her husband, Larry, and their twins, Lawrence and Ann. She is an active member of the Junior League of Wheeling, Wheeling Jesuit University’s Alumni Council, and Oglebay Institute’s Mansion Museums Committee.
