Wheeling Jesuit University’s other major high-tech initiative is the NASA Classroom of the Future – an educational component that helps bring mathematics and science opportunities to children in grades K-12. The University completed a new building to house the program in December of 1994. The new building, called the Erma Ora Byrd Center for Educational Technologies, also houses the Alan B. Mollohan mission control and spacecraft simulator that make up the Challenger Learning Center; a NASA Regional Teacher Resource Center; a 21st Century Learning Center; a software development facility that will provide computer software and video products for nationwide use; and a satellite uplink and downlink facility.
