Our Origin

RED History

The Regional Economic Development Partnership (RED) began in 1926 as the Ohio Valley Industrial Corporation, focused on driving economic growth and job creation in Ohio County. Incorporated in 1961 as the Ohio Valley Industrial and Business Development Corporation (OVIBDC), the organization expanded its services to meet the needs of a growing business community.

In the late 20th century, RED broadened its reach by partnering with Marshall and Wetzel counties, becoming a key economic development resource for the entire Wheeling region. This expansion allowed RED to support a wider range of businesses and projects, enhancing its impact across multiple counties.

Today, RED remains dedicated to fostering economic prosperity through project-oriented initiatives, financial support, and strategic partnerships. With nearly a century of experience, RED continues to play a vital role in building a strong, vibrant future for Northern West Virginia.
