Cabela’s “World’s Foremost Outfitter” took a close look at the RED region and liked what they saw. With assistance from RED and government officials, Ohio County was successful in enticing Cabela’s to locate a 540,000-sq.-ft. distribution center, as well as a retail store of over 175,000 square feet which opened August 2004. Currently, the distribution center has expanded to 1.2 million square feet. In all there are estimated to be 1,200 full-time jobs at the two facilities and an expected 4 million visitors a year.
